Aerosol dispersion and aerosol transmission studied in the Charité dental clinic

Back to Overview

You are here:

At the Institute of Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine of the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the aerosol propagation as well as aerosol transmission was investigated by the Institute (Biofluid Mechanics Lab) in cooperation with the TU Berlin (Prof. Paschereit, Experimentelle Strömungsmechanik) using the "Aerosol Transmission Measurement System" (in short: ATMoS), in order to be able to estimate a potential risk of infection in the treatment rooms in the coronavirus context. First, a qualitative investigation was carried out using smoke to visualize the room flow. Depending on this, so-called emitter and absorber dummies were positioned for the quantitative investigation.
